Recycling/Saving Energy

Here's a few things that I am going to try this year to try and recycle and save energy. If anyone has any more suggestions, please let me know. I'm not obsessive about this...just becoming a little more conscious of it:

1. I will try and find uses (or reuse) for any reusable containers that I obtain. I already do this with zip lock bags and lunch containers. I have a few plastic containers that can be reused for stuff.

2. Start taking recycling in once a week (ok or 2). And, since I don't drive my car that often...I will do it by bus and walking, thus saving gas, thus saving money and energy.

3. Use less plastic bags. I will bring recyclable bags to work so when I go to the grocery store I will have the bags at my "disposal." I do need some plastic bags for the cat litter, but at least I will reduce the bags I use.

4. I will continue to be diligint about turning off things so they do not consume unnecessary energy. Today I put some things that go on "standby" onto a different powerbar and have turned it off until I want to use them. It will hopefully reduce my electricity bill and save energy.

5. I will look into solar power panels to power up my small electronics.

Does anyone else have any suggestions. To be honest, they have to be simple suggestions because otherwise I probably won't get to them.
